Encarta Answers | Mysia: Ancient district of Asia Minor in modern-day Turkey. The Mysians seem to have crossed from Thrace to Asia Minor at an early period. In the 6th century BC Mysia came under the control of Lydia, which then fell to the Persians in c. 546 BC. Mysia became important in the 3rd century BC as the centre of the kingdom of Pergamum, a Hellenistic state that controlled much of western Asia Minor. In 133 BC, Pergamum came under Roman rule, and Mysia became part of the Roman province of Asia Minor. |
