Goremykin, Ivan Longinovich (1830-1917), Russian statesman, born in Novgorod. After serving in various administrative posts, he became minister of the interior in 1895 and served in that capacity until 1899. He was premier for three months in 1906 and again from January 1914 to January 1916. A reactionary manipulated by Grigory Rasputin, and therefore identified with the tsarist regime, he was imprisoned briefly following the Russian Revolution of March 1917. Late that year, at his rural residence in the Caucasus, he was murdered by a Bolshevik mob.
