North of the western end of the Taurus Mountains lie the large Eğridir and Beyşehir lakes. To the east lie the Anti-Taurus Mountains. South of the Aladağ and leading to the Seyhan River valley is a pass, called the Cilician Gates (Külek Boğazi), used from ancient times by many armies.
