Tibetan Yak

Tibetan Yak
The Tibetan yak is an ungulate that belongs to the subfamily Bovinae, which contains approximately 23 species of wild cattle and spiral-horned antelope that range across Asia, Africa, and North America. The yak is restricted in its distribution to several isolated localities high on the Tibetan plateau, at altitudes of 4,000 to 6,000 m (13,000 to 19,600 ft). Wild yaks are considered endangered species while domestic yaks, used as beasts of burden, resulted from crossbreeding with cattle.
