Bao Dai

Bao Dai
Bao Dai ruled as the last emperor of the Nguyen dynasty in Vietnam from 1926 to 1945. He was forced to abdicate by the Vietminh, a communist guerrilla movement. A few years later, in 1949, the French government established Bao Dai as the head of South Vietnam, a newly formed state. He was deposed by Premier Ngo Dinh Diem when South Vietnam became a republic in 1955.
