Yasuhiro Nakasone
Yasuhiro Nakasone was the prime minister of Japan from 1982 to 1987. During the 1960s and 1970s, Nakasone rose through the ranks of the ruling Liberal-Democratic party, holding several prominent cabinet positions. He survived party scandals and ruled until 1987, when his handpicked successor, Noboru Takeshita, became prime minister.
