Kara Kum Canal, Turkmenistan
The Kara Kum Canal spans the Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan. The canal is 1,400 km (868 mi) long and diverts water from the Amu Darya. It travels through the Kara Kum and the capital Ashgabat to the Caspian Sea in the west.
