The Polish-born American pianist Arthur Rubinstein toured extensively, though he always refused to play in Germany after the war in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. He recorded the complete piano works of his compatriot Frédéric Chopin, including the Nocturne op. 15, no. 2 (1833), heard here. Rubinstein brings out the free, expressive melody typical of Chopin’s nocturnes.
